Lifestyle
Mission
Our mission is the same as that of Jesus. The Holy Spirit sends us:
Ministry
Spirituality
We are called to embrace the Spirituality of the Cross and radically imitate Jesus Christ, Priest, and Victim. Like Jesus, we make of our entire life a constant priestly offering to God the Father in union with Jesus. We wish to see the world transformed by the priestly heart of Jesus, compassionate for the poor, the suffering, and the marginalized.
VEN. FR. FELIX DE JESUS ROUGIER, MSpS
The Venerable Fr. Felix de Jesús Rougier was born in Meilhaud, France, on December 17, 1859. In the Society of Mary, he was ordained a priest at the age of 27. He was a human being with limitations and failings. He was, however, a man who single-mindedly pursued his lifetime goal: TO DO THE WILL OF THE HEAVENLY FATHER.
He pursued his ideal amid internal and external strife, in the darkness of a faith put to the test, hoping against all odds, suffering from the misunderstandings of many of his brethren. Yet, at the same time, he earned the love of many with his gentleness and kindness.
He came to Mexico in 1902 after six years of missionary work in Colombia. Here, he had a providential encounter with Conchita on February 4, 1903. Through her, the Lord made him discover his vocation to the Works of the Cross and his mission as founder of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit.
Ten years would go by before he could get the permission of his superiors to found the Congregation, but with the restriction that he did not leave the Society of Mary. He founded the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit in the Chapel of the Roses, in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in Mexico City, on December 25, 1914. After many years of patient longing to be a Missionary of the Holy Spirit, finally, in 1926, his superiors permitted him to become a member of the Congregation he founded. The latter part of Fr. Felix's life was taken up mainly with his labors to establish the Works of the Cross in cooperation with Conchita, a widow, and mystic. During the revolutionary turmoil in Mexico, he founded the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, a congregation devoted to Jesus Christ, as Priest and Victim. Fr. Felix was also instrumental in having Mexico consecrated to the Holy Spirit (October 12, 1924).
Besides the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, Fr. Felix founded three other congregations for women: The Daughters of the Holy Spirit (1924), The Guadalupan Missionaries of the Holy Spirit (1930), and the Oblate Sisters of Jesus Priest (1937).
On February 15, 2000, the heroic virtues of Fr. Felix were approved by the Vatican, and on July 1st John Paul II declared him VENERABLE. His process of canonization gets closer to being fulfilled.
BLESSED CONCEPCION CABRERA DE ARMIDA
Blessed Concepcion Cabrera de Armida, affectionately known as Conchita, lived and sanctified all the states of Christian life: fiancee, wife, mother of nine children, and grandmother. On December 8, 1862, she was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She died on March 3, 1937, in Mexico City.
The most outstanding characteristics of her life were: purity of heart, a true spirit of sacrifice, humility, and the great love of Jesus Crucified.
Conchita was the instrument chosen by God to give the Works of the Cross to the Church, all of which contain the unique characteristics of the Spirituality of the Cross. These Works seek to spread in the Church the Reign of the Holy Spirit, which is the Kingdom of Love expressed in the Cross of Our Savior.
Conchita was also a mystic and a spiritual writer. For more than forty years, on the advice of her spiritual directors, she faithfully kept a spiritual diary that numbered 66 manuscripts, which equals the Summa of St. Thomas Aquinas. She addresses all the People of God: single and married people, priests and bishops, religious and all consecrated lives.
As a mystical writer, she heard God telling her: "Ask me for a long-suffering life and write a lot... That's your mission on earth". So when her canonization process began in 1959, about 200 volumes of her writings were presented to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
On December 20, 1999, she was declared Venerable by Pope John Paul II.
On May 4, 2019, she was beatified in Mexico City.
