Our Goal
The goal of this campaign is to raise funds to replace the St. Matthew Church roof. We need the support and generosity of St. Matthews’ parishioners to help us raise the roof over our heads and preserve our place of worship for many years to come.
The total cost of replacing the church roof and doing the necessary seismic retrofitting the roof as well as the bell tower is estimated at $2,000,000.
During our campaign to raise funds for the school roof in 2020, we reserved about $460,000 thanks to the generosity of our parishioners. These funds have served as “seed money” for this second phase of the Raising the Roof campaign.
We are currently gathering donations and this early fundraising has raised more than half of the funds needed to reach our goal.

Parish Prayer
Heavenly Father, we give you thanks as we celebrate 60 years since our church was dedicated as a house to worship your Holy Name. May you look kindly on us and bless us as we resume our Capital Campaign to continue the work of our founding parishioners. Moved by the Holy Spirit, may we make a generous return for all the blessings in our lives.

Why the Roof? Why Now?
The St. Matthew church roof is about 30 years old and overdue for replacement.We’re already seeing signs of significant wear and tear. Leaks are springing up, including a recent water incursion above the loft near our organ. This leak was repaired in January. If we don’t act now to replace the roof, these issues will only worsen and our repair costs will increase dramatically.
SEISMIC RETROFITTING
This replacement process gives us the perfect opportunity to seismically retrofit the church roof and bell tower at the same time, reducing construction costs and disruption to church activities. The St. Matthew bell tower stands 77 feet tall and uplifts our cross to make the church a highly visible sign of our faith. However, the tower is not attached to the church building. During an earthquake, it is likely the bell tower will not only be destroyed, but greatly damage the church building as well.

Timing
We will need to move all masses to the School Gym and/or the Parish Hall during
construction. It is important that we start this project as soon as school gets out in June and complete it by September before school starts in the Fall.
We are applying for a construction from the Archdiocese loan now. All pledge cards will be used as collateral, helping us secure the loan so we can make sure this project proceeds on schedule.Donors can pledge to give over time, up to three years.
Every signed pledge card will greatly help us succeed.
