Archbishop Alexander Sample baptized, confirmed, and offered the Eucharist to eight Catholics at a Mass in our parish this past Saturday.
The Mass completes the sacramental initiation for a group of workers who live at Campo Uno during the harvest season. They come from Mexico and Central America to work pick seasonal fruit in the summer, working long hours kneeling in the sun to earn enough money to support their families both here and abroad.
We were most impressed with their faith and great humility. They came formally dressed, with great respect and a heart full of faith for the sacraments. They come filled with reverence to celebrate their faith, while in life they have to live a harsh reality.
The migrants were presented as candidates before the Archbishop by Father Mario Rodriguez. All of the candidates studied catechism under the leadership of Jorge and Lupita Valdes, who lead the ministry to people who live in this camp., and other dedicated catechists from our Parish.
The candidates who received the sacraments were:
Alan Santiago Vasquez
Cristofer Sanchez Ramirez
Diego Martinez Garcia
Esteban Jimenez Jr.
Leobardo Sanchez
Miriam Gonzalez Reyes
Oscar Santiago Vasquez
Yahaira Jimenez Flores
